Change the World Print E-mail
At Journey Church we believe that love can change the world, in fact it already has!  Two thousand years ago the world saw the greatest act of love when one man gave His life as a sacrifice for all of mankind.  The life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ changed the course of human history and continues to change individual lives to this very day.

Those who are beneficiaries and recipients of this love have been given a trust and responsibility to also sacrifice for the sake of others.  There are many people hurting and suffering in our world and we believe that we have a responsibility to bring this love, hope and redemption to them in very practical ways.

The Apostle Paul says that this love should compel us to live selfless, sacrificial lives:

For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.  And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”   - 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Jesus had this to say regarding loving those in desperate need:

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'  "The King (Jesus) will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"   - Matthew 25:31-40

To be a follower of Christ is to be one who receives and gives love unconditionally.  Although we cannot do everything, we also cannot ignore the pain and suffering that is all around us.  If we all do our part the world will be a better place.  Love can change the world!  Freely we have received and so freely we give.

Below you will find some organizations that are doing their part.  You may want to check them out and join their efforts.

Where Is God When The Chips Are Down?
It's so easy to believe that God is with us when things are going well. We readily acknowledge that he loves us and always has our best interest at heart. We say things like "He has all the...
